Hi Terryvanman Welcome to the site Apart from the usual missing sill trim and the bonnet riding a bit high, the car looks very nice from the picture.I cant see any obvious problems but you need to take a look at the buyers guide to find the weak areas. What is the price range of the car?

£5750 is what he's asking are the sill trims expensive and can you get them.

The picture does not indicate to me that its worth that amount. The sill trims are now obtainable new but stocks are low - use Search

The door bottoms look a bit suspect.A car for this money would have to have a good interior/mechanics/maybe some history and not too many owners.

Be careful, it may only be worth half that amount. The wipers are not parked properly, it looks as if the tyres are old crossplys and it looks a bit low at the back.
Is there any one in your area that could go with you, for that amount it would need to be a nice car, with sill trims. Why are they missing.

See if you can get pics of the inside-in front of the front doors underneath the parcel shelf to left and right and also the engine.Do the doors close ok or do they have to be lifted?

It would seem it's had a lot of work done to it? NORMALLY if it's someones pride and joy they will keep photographs if not a record of who did what and when? the other alternative is has been done just for resale! If you give your location there may be a club member near you who would be able to make a better assessment of the condition

Be very careful that you are not taken and remember that buying the first one you see very rarely works out.
These cars are far from rare - real good ones at the price yours is at are though

I would NOT expect to see any rust bubbles for that money. Having said that, there are two types of rust bubbles. There is the honest types caused by age and/or stone chipping, or there is the other type which just appears as a "lump" under the paint, which normally means a recent tidy up to sell. I would expect the car to be very good in all respects, but try to buy bodywork. Mechanical things are relatively cheap and easy to fix.
Pat has pointed out the front scuttle (the panel below the windscreen) but the rear can rot spectacularly too. If these are going, this is just the tip of the iceberg, and the car is going to need expensive attention, and definately nothing even close to the price asked.
Don't be despondant yet......you might be pleasantly suprised. I would be happy to come with you, but I am thirty miles in the wrong direction down in Kent.

I went with Terry he was disappointed a really nice guy still looking for a good coupe From a distance the car looked great but Filler in all the doors bubbling Sills fitted poorly Scuttle repaired badly which is why the bonnet is high to match it! Screen rubbers fitted incorrectly Screen trims dented Rear springs shot Shocks on rear shot Doors fitted poorly digging in the sill Rust had been covered up around the rear screen (rust flakes found in the usual place under the rear aperture in the boot) Crap paint job nothing removed on respray over spray on all rubbers etc plus different colours on panels plus coach lines totally wrong! All the underfelt removed on front floor just carpet Drove like it had a mind of it's own o/s/f tyre squealed even on the slightest bend Steering box leaking badly Kick down intermittent Apart from that a nice car restored badly!! Apparently he paid £11000 10 years ago to have it restored??? and has only done low mileage since the restorers even changed the engine for him!!

Good of you to go with him John. I am sure the experience has done Terry good. I would have loved to come too but I had to give a PASS PLUS driving lesson yesterday

Hi Glenn I thought of you as you didn't volunteer I knew you would be busy doing something! PASS PLUS?? The seller was a genuine guy who was a bit naive had the car since 73 relied on others who ripped him off
