I have been in contact with a company that could produce new rear coupe screens. The one off cost is high, but a run of five or more would bring the cost down - £400 ish I'm told. Less if more than five. Would anyone be interested ?

The glass is cheap, but as it's a one of run the tooling is where the expense lays. Basically no one makes them anymore.

Does auto windscreens not have the moulds? The company was aparently into liquidation but had been restablished, there was a write up in the classic press last few years. en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Auto_WindscreensColin

You have got to wonder what happened to the moulds. Before they went in to liquidation the were boasting about all the original glass they could make.
Was worth asking though.

Tim,
I did get a screen from David Green on Saturday and it's cleaned up pretty well. I don't know what the resistance of the heating elements should be (anyone any ideas? - it's a toughened screen with surface elements) but it does register as a few ohms, so is at least partially working. However, like anything second hand, it's not perfect and I am tempted to buy a new one and keep this as a spare. This is not a criticism of David or his stuff - after all it cost only a small percentage of the money you mention.
Can you elaborate slightly on the heating arrangement which would be included? Is it a surface element or an embedded element?
Is the £400(ish) the delivered price, each one to a different UK address, including VAT?
After this purchase, what would the status of the tooling be?
Tony

There is a firm in Finland that can make any windscreen.I've tried to find it via google,I remember reading an article in a classic car magazine where they ordered one for a 60's cadillac. The guys name was (I think) something like Anti Vertianen. I noticed that Pilkington still list the front screens for the Coupe and Saloons, maybe worth trying them for the rears?.

Tony Hi tony, I don't know the finer details as yet. I wanted to see what sort of interest there would be and then take it from there. The approx price of £400 was for an as per original screen with a run of five screens . If I can include you tony I would have four people interested . I'm also trying other companies to see if it can be done cheaper.

Hello Tim,
Good initiative! I live in Holland and am also interested. I don't mind taking the ferry to the UK but prefer to drive not to far in the UK. London area would be perfect Regards

Colin Nigel Boothman I believe - he did one of the articles that used my P5 for Practical Classics. I have direct contact numbers for him in my phone. PM me if you need them.

Tim,
I'm certainly interested, subject to the details being OK. It looks like you may have a fifth now - maybe a few more days will see a further increase.
I'm less than an hour from Harwich, if you are looking for a convenient pick up point, Peter.

The company I'm in contact with at the moment will be able to supply laminated rear screens with an imbedded heater ( ie not visible ) . The price is for a run of green tinted screens . They will charge more to produce clear and tinted. The approx price is £400 without vat . I can get them sent to my address for no extra charge. Obviously we would have to sort out picking them up individually. I'm happy to pay to get the run made initially. What does everyone think ? I will still shop around for a better deal though.

Tony,
Thanks for the offer. Are you north of Harwich or more direction London? If i go to the UK, i normally take the Calais Dover ferry but could use the ferry to Harwich.
Tim,
You mention green tinted. How green is that? All screens on the P5 are clear, aren't these?
