I just gave up trying to help a guy out fitting his rear screen I have done 7 of these and it has never been an issue to get the screen in the opening! it was tight top to bottom and the curve was too severe at the top center by 3/8" but ok at the top corners!! plus it seemed too short at the sides, the rubber seal was a least 1.5" too long which may point to the fact the screen was too small? It was a second hand screen of unknown vintage so he will be going to David Greens to compare and possibly buy another? plus a Scott seal, at least I know they fit and it will rule out the seal! it may not be the seal

Mine was OK but it may be that the aperture has distorted through corrosion of the sills/inner wings and D posts over 50 years?

I had a good check Phil it all seemed untouched, normally you have a bit of give top to bottom but less than a 1mm plus the bow made it impossible to push the screen home added to the fact the top corners were tight against the opening and the sides with at least a 10mm gap including the seal as I saidI will have another go with a different screen and seal.
