Looks like it has a sliding steel sunroof. I can't say I've seen many of those in P5Bs.

The first thing you need in Italy, is the technical data / datasheet of the car. I can not find. The engine number where you see ??

The engine number where you see ?? The engine number is on the block behind the left hand cylinder head. (Left hand is the same side as your steering wheel)

Phew! That's quite a job you've taken on Dimi but more power to you if you can save that P5B from the crusher and give it a new home.

The AED that Phil is referring to is the Automatic Enrichment Device. It was an automatic cold starting system to replace the manual choke. It is visible in your photo so that enabled Phil to identify when the car was made. Earlier models had the manual choke. When you say technical data sheets, do you mean the workshop manual (book)? If so, you can purchase a new reproduction from the Rover P5 Club, or you may find second-hand copies on eBay. Look on the left-hand side near the top of the forum home page for a link to the club's website. The early V8's had the AED and the later ones were manual I would think seriously about starting this restoration due to the state of the car the cost involved and parts availability in Italy

Welcome Dimitri, I have agree with John, think with your head not your heart you will spend thousands of euro's getting the car right. You could get to a point when you have had enough then stop. Look up Peter de Veldes work you will get some idea what is involved. I love your idea but....
Think carefully. Good luck

Hi, the workshop manual I bought the club. The datasheet is a document for approval. example: I work in an engineering company .... The cost will be spare parts and sheet metal !!!!

Thanks for the info. Question: with the number of the chassis, you can trace the history of the car ??

Chassis number : That chassis number indicates that your car is an export LHD Saloon from 1970. The numbers commenced at 84300235 for 1970. The "D" means that the lower BC pillars have been modified to take inertia reel seatbelts. This information courtesy of "The Post-War Rover P4 & P5" by James Taylor.

Dimitri,
I can't help you with the history details of your car. To get it registered, it could be that the testers are not happy with a screwed on plate showing the chassis nr. Look at your subframe. On the top of the LH subframe bracket where the bracket of the front bumper is attached to the subframe, the chassis nr is stamped into the subframe. There will be a lot of dirt on it.

Dimitri, No, i didn't mean that. Its near the left hand front wheel. It the area on the subframe which shows some surface rust above the 2 bolts from the front bumper mounting bracket. Regards Peter

I agree with ^. I spent around £19,000 (26,000 Euro) which is more than the finished car is worth. My opinion is - close your eyes and let it go and spend less money of a finished car.
