Just realised I missed gipsykev's post - apologies. Don't get out on my katana much. Just passed mot again having covered less than 100 miles last year. Fear not though. I just bought a Gs1200 for a trip to Spain this summer for a significant birthday date! That should see a few miles go on. See pic! Attachments:

Having just got back from my first go touring on the GS1200 I took the Katana out Sunday for a run. Quickly realised how much things have changed! - I love the looks of it to death but I cant say I like riding it that much. It may be up for sale soon!! Here's me on my 50th up the Pyrenees with the GS! (if link works)

I sold my GS1200A as I couldn't get on wit it in London traffic, bought an XJR1300 instead, now that's a bike for 50 year old knees and wrists, great fun....

hi guys, just joined. just bought a p5b coupe. i am also a lifelong biker and i make stainless steel expansion chambers for the old 70’s 2 strokes. got quite a collection of old strokers 👍

IMHO The louder the better. I production raced an LC250 in the early 1980's. That particular LC250 was an ex demonstrator and featured in a big article in MCN at the time. got quite a collection of old strokers 👍 Now, you can't post things like that without pictures!

That is a lovely bike, I sometimes wish that I had kept my 1981 Yamaha XJ 650. My first big bike that took me on my first continental trips. When going to France I soon realised that the French customs only stopped the bikes with white headlights, so I bought a French yellow bulb and would swop them over on the ferry. I still have the bulb, in with my antiques !
My current bike is a Yamaha FJR 1300

Reply many years after your post : Me too ! Had a Ducati 860GT bought new, same engine as your GTS but more sporty looking. Fitted clip-on handlebars and Yamaha 750 handlebar switches, as this bike was terrific but broke down every time I took it out due to electrical issues. My dealer took it back under warranty, removed the entire wiring harness and soldered all the crimped connectors as the sub-contractor who supplied Ducati electrics used faulty crimping tooling. What a job. I asked him how he managed to claim a refund from the factory for his work... he just shrugged. He also replaced the faulty brass valve guides which were worn out and leaked oil after only 2000km... with phosphor bronze valve guideBute had machined himself. Same question about the factory refund, same answer. But that 860GT was amazing, massive low end torque peaking at 2500RPM which is unheard of today where rev counters on, for example, my friends Kawasaki ZZ, don't even start at that speed (but go up to 12 000 rpm) It was enough to break traction on a dry road, when the lights turned to green... smoked the rear wheel at under 3000RPM if you weren't careful. But it also went like a rocket, handled and braked incredibly - our favourite sport (but that was 48 years ago...) with my mate's race tuned RDLC350 was doubling the speed limits everywhere... naughty boys My current stable is : 1964 Honda 450 K0 Black Bomber ; 1968 Honda 450 K2 ; two 1990-ish Yamaha 600XTe café racers ; a 1980 Yamaha XT250 that I bought new, a darling of a bike ; a 1948 125cc Peugeot 2-stroke ; and the one I actually ride, a 2002 1100cc Yamaha BT1100 V-twin with a tuned engine that is a kind of revenge for the frustrating Ducati. Its bullet-proof Japanese engineering but designed and built by Yamaha's Italian grand prix bike factory near Monza in Italy - a Japanese Ducati ! Attachment Deleted
