hi guys,
i'm about to buy a 3 litre coupe 1963 with chassis no. 0073600007 and engine no. 0077100336.
is there any way to clarify if this is the original engine in combination with the original chassis.
can I search into a database record?
Regards,

You can apply for a heritage certificate in the UK which might help? I'm not sure if it shows engine number but it certainly shows the original specification of the car and and special orders. Search for Heritage... I posted links to the website before..

Manual RHD export model - the numbers tie up so may well be original

You will have a much better chance of getting accurate information on an early model like yours from a heritage certificate. After Leyland took over I don't think they really cared all that much about record-keeping. My coupe was built in March 1970, according to the certificate I received, based on the chassis number. The other information provided was: Engine number: not recorded. Body number: not recorded. Body type: Saloon.

I've looked in P5 book and it lists 736 series as 1963 manual RHD export. There were only 15 in 1963.
Elsewhere is a list of production changes, and one entry relates to changes made from engine no. 771-00485 in Dec 1963. Based on those facts, it would seem likely that it is the original engine.
