I realize this is a long shot, but does anyone have a chrome screw on door mirror for a P5B with a base plate of 105 mm between the screws or thereabouts? It's to replace the one on my car which has a broken spring and is in any event a hideous black monstrosity. Much obliged for any help. Gary

Gary, sounds like you have had one which was off a P6. It might be worth keeping an eye on ebay. I've had most of mine from there.

John, Thanks for the help. I will look around and see what I can get. Obviously I want to try and cover the existing fixing holes with the new mirror, and if it is a P6 mirror then that shouldn't be difficult to get. Have tried Holdens etc with no success as yet. Gary

I've checked the centres on mine and a brand new boxed set I have. They are 105mm, so the one you have is from a P6. They are 'Raydot' 'Executive' door mirrors. They came in Chrome or Matt Black. You can find decent examples at Auto-jumbles as I have seen them there. John

Excellent John, will persevere with the current mirror until I find a replacement, (I know it has been on the car since the original owner had it so a little while longer wont hurt!!) Thanx for the help

In the meantime why not see if you can get a replacement spring just to tide you over. Is it just the spring or has the peg it locates on broke? If that is the case then drill the peg and put a st. steel self tapping screw in tightly. Then it's a case of getting the spring over the screw. I had to do just that today, and it was a right pig to get the spring to stretch far enough. However it's done now so long as everything stays in place. The peg is a mazak casting and over the years it crumbles and goes into dust that's why they fail.
