We wanted, a car that was younger than ours, original, with room for four, with good style, funny to drive and not so common. The car which has all that is the... MAZDA RX8!! Thefunny red zone at 9500RPM

Lovely car, quite rare in the UK and, I would think, even more rare in France. I haven't driven one, but they've had good reviews. A bit different to the P5B

Obviously a midlife crisis Cyf. I love the redline limit on the tacho...Ah yes...I can see that it's obviously a family car! PS. Go lightly on the throttle...the fuel consumption is quite something with a rotary engine. The fun aspect is that you can hone your drifting skills.

You're right Warwick, the mid life crisis at its best! I never owned a sport car, all my cars are old 4X4 or classics. We own it for just two weeks and I can't go light on the throttle yet. And yes, it's a family car until our kids will be too tall to be comfortable at the back!
Tonys, I'm surprised that it's a quite rare car in UK because every week there's a RHD for sale in France, coming from UK. I thought that they were plenty over there.

... The funny red zone at 9500RPM ... It's not quite what it seems Cyf. I put an RX4 13B engine in a Bolwell 40 years ago and if I remember correctly, the gear ratio between the rotors and the output shaft is 3:1. The rotors are only spinning at 1/3 of the speed of the output shaft and the tacho is indicating output shaft RPM, as it would for the crankshaft on a piston engine.

I haven't seen one for many months, and then I saw 3 today. 3, in the space of about 10 miles. Perhaps I need to get out more often
