Hello Dan
Provided that the ends are not flattened so that they can be clearly seen they will be great.
If the slight bend in the middle is visible that would be great too.
As I told Roy, I cannot guarantee 100% getting them back undamaged.......or getting them back at all for that matter. They have a long way to go !
If thats OK with you, then we will sort it out !

I'll try to dig them out, and I'll let you know. They're an awkward shape for posting, though - where are you based?

No doubt on the dark side of the moon to you..... I am in North Kent.
Maybe I could collect them sometime instead ?
Its not a priority after all, and there does not seem to be much interest anyway.

Well there should be No P5b looks right without the sill trim. No sill trim, body coloured sills and 185 radials, is that the contemporary look everybody wants because that seems to be the norm at the moment I wish you well Smallfry Richard

Rather depends on what you want the car for, Richard. As a very recent convert to the delights of P5 ownership, I want to be able to use my car almost as a daily driver..in fact, I split the daily stuff between the P5 and a eurobox, keeping the eurobox for the short, damaging "nip to the shops" type of thing. My business does involve some reasonably hefty mileages and I expect I'll clock up 4 - 5,000 miles in the P5 this year, and every one of them with a smile on my face While I admire your car, Richard, it is very much a showpiece rather than useable transport. That's your choice and good on you for preserving such a fine example. However, my choice (and equally valid) is to drive my car around a lot. So, I spend my limited resources on tyres that suit my mileages, MOT items firstly and cosmetics second, and of course a full AA breakdown and recovery membership (very important!). BTW, my car does have sill trims but having read all the previous stuff, I'm off to check they're still firmly attached.... Cheers.

Welcome to the forum and hope you can join the cliub too?
I am glad you are able to use your car regulary I too use mine daily for both business and pleasure after all that is what they are built for and are excellent for the purpose.
We want all sorts of cars in the club and it is nice to see a selection of both but daily drivers are scarce

I took my sill trims to a sheet metal company that is owned by one of my relations. They can make me a new pair to the same spec as the old ones. They can make me a single pair or I can bulk order, say 10 or 20 pairs. I think the best way to proceed with this (I cannot confirm the cost as yet, but will do so as soon as I know) is that when I know the cost, and they are fabricated a member of this forum who has knowledge of them can recieve a pair (f.o.c) to inspect and leave their comments on the product. I would like them to be a member, who regularly posts and is well known to the club. Any volunteers? First reply get's the nod ;D

I'll give it whirl?
The cost will be interesting though - I do not know whether you could get enough to stump up to make it viable

That's the beauty of families. But let's see how it goes. based on the cost. I will send you a pair when they are made. Thank you for responding.

Glenn
Hope it proves successful.
I know the club looked at the possibility of remanufacturing (we had the original drawingss somewhere, acre of Nick Mathias) but the originals have a strange curve to them. i.e. they are not straight!

The company I have taken them to is a large company and the have all the up to date equipment. They will take all the measurements and bend allowances. They have a pair of originals to work from. Let's see how it goes.

OK. Just to give you an update. I am having 10 pairs of the sill trims made. They can also fabricate the metal clips so they don't rust. The ones from Wadhams are plastic and I think they were fabricted for the p6. I have been told they are not as good as the metal clips?? I have ordered some original clips (for them to work from) so that everything will fit. I have seen a test section and it looks great. I will update more in January.

Well done - I look forward to seeing the finished product - good idea about the stainless clips as the standard steel ones are bad news on such an exposed area.
The plastic ones are a half measure as although they do not rust, so avoiding stains, falling off etc, they can damage the strips.
New strips will certainly be better than secondhand ones as these are invariably damaged/bent/pitted if not drilled with holes
