hi everyone i am in the process of fitting a Lucas A127 alternator. On dismantling the old one today when i removed the wires i noticed there is a cable i think from memory it was a brown wire that comes from the solonoid up to the starter relay so its a positive feed all the time as its connected on the solonoid to the same post as the battery cable comes from, is this cable still needed when the new A127 alternator is fitted as i think i read on here somewhere that it was not needed but i want to make sure first thank you Colin.

Colin, Underneath the wiring diagram for the A127 The wire from solenoid to alternator is normally brown. You should not remove the wire from the solenoid to the starter relay. Are you sure it is the starter relay as there is the 6RA, 3AW and the 4TR. The 6RA, 3AW and 4TR can be removed as these are no linger needed. The original scheme is underneath Peter
