Perhaps when the restoration's finished the club could negotiate a discount for 1 day hire for club members? My wife would probably make a booking now.

Suits it - more dignified than the low slung Mercs etc with raised roofs that make them look like stretched Mini ice cream van conversions

In James Taylor's book Rover P5 and P5B p160 he refers to a hearse registered in Ireland LEI 907 which appears to show the passenger doors reduced down to the waistline allowing a long fixed panel which is like the body(no pun) at the NEC. I once displayed my Mk1 next to a black P5 hearse at Beaulieu c2009/2010. I might think about searching for one but i don't think I will put Urgent on the order Do I remember Sir Michael Edwardes having use of a P5B estate during his tenure of office as British Leyland chairman?

Are you perhaps thinking about an SD1 estate that he used?

Sir Michael Edwardes' tenure of office with BL was between 1977 - 1982 so yes, probably just too late for the P5 range and more likely the SD1 then.

Are you perhaps thinking about an SD1 estate that he used? Are you sure that isn't just hearsay? Well, I didn't know Michael Edwardes, so no personal knowledge , but the Rover SD1 Complete Story (Pender) has a picture of an SD1 estate used by the company chairman Michael Edwardes. That car is, or was, in British Motor Industry Heritage Museum at Gaydon. There were 2 prototype estates, one regd LOE 99P. The second is at Haynes Motor Museum in Sparkford, Somerset. I have a photo of the one at Haynes somewhere, but can't recall whether it was LOE 99P or not. There is a picture of LOE 99P in a museum setting in Pender's book, but I don't know which of the two museums it is. It doesn't clear up the P5B estate / Michael Edwardes question, but I doubt that he did have access to one as the P5 hadbeen out of production for years before he arrived.
