I am trying to get the rear suspension Y bushes made as per original only P5b spec at the moment the early ones are slightly harder rubber! how many guys would be interested at less than Scotts price of £44.73! as the remake involves tooling I would need at least 50 guys to make the job worthwhile as far as the company is concerened

I'd be interested John in one or 2 sets. To clarify though these would be to the same or better standard than original?
Somewhere in my paperwork I have copies of the original technical pages from metalastik on these rear bushes. I very helpful man copied them and sent them to me years ago when I enquired about getting them remade. At the time they wouldn't consider remaking them but did recommend some circular pads from their range which would bolt to the original triangles and be the correct 'spec'. I guess the same as JRW ones do now.

They will be made as per original Roy not two seperate buffers/engine mounts Phil kindly loaned a original new sample the rubber has been shaw tested for hardness so the cost will include the tooling to do the job! I am still waiting for cheaper quotes for metalwork but the price is tight but unless I get the interest from 50 people it will be a lost cause Just to clarify the price is for 1 Y bush and will be on a none profit bases to members I will give a deffinate price to all before placing the order and I would like a 50% deposit so I don't get caught with a big bill 16 sets??

You need 50 sets? or 50 y bushes? (I´m thinking 1 set=2 y bushes). If its only 50, having already 16 sets (32), you are close. Miguel

This project needs advertising in Take 5 too - as only few members actually bother looking in to the forum - a different few read the mag. Some do both

I agree Phil trouble is it takes a long while to get it in the mag if the timing is wrong

I bought a pair or should i say Big Kev bought them for me About 85.00 for the pair from JRW I had a pair of makeshift one engine mount What a waste of time and money and they lasted 6 months before breaking up and car was not even being used See earlier post Pictures

Just to confirm, it was the makeshift ones that were a waste of money? I've had JRW replacements that are still OK after a decade. Well they were till I said that!

Hello all, Not to be a stick in the mud but does it really make sense to remake the Y bush if everyone agrees that the ones from JRW work well and are spot on to the orginals? Keeping the parts suppliers supplying should also be a concern of the club. I don't think JRW waited until he got 50 sets on order before he went ahead and made them up. One approach may be to see if a bulk order from JRW for the Y bushs would result in a discount. Again not to be a stick in the mud and don't want to put any one off but I thought this was worth mentioning. Dirk in the states

Dirk in the states Dirk if the items sold were as per original spec there would be no problem, but they are engine mounts fitted to similar spec metalwork and are not designed for the shere effect as the springs stretch under load and after a short time they fail Firstly JRW is not a discount person and of course is in the game to make money have a good read about the service provided suppliers rely on members to exist and attitude goes a long way I am trying to get the project off the ground on a no proffit to members basis sometimes you have to do your own thing to help I have the time so I am trying
