I will install rear seat belts in the next week or two. I am going to install static type as they dont interfere with the seat back and therefore are easier to install than the reels. Also, keeps the kids from leaning forward and messing around! How do i remove the rear seat back and parcel shelf? I dont have a manual yet. It will come out of Octobers budget. The base pops out easily, so no problem there. I searched 2000 days to no avail. Thanks

there is 4 bolts holding the frame in place.
Remove the hardboard cover from the petrol tank area and you will be able to get to them. once out get a hand, protect the d-posts and lift it upwards.
there will be cut outs under the parcel shelf board.

Check the wheel arch mounts as they will be seriously weakened by rust if in typical P5 condition
I thought you had a P5B?

Very interested to see your install. Photos would be perfect. Are you going to use original front ones or are you buying new ones? Miguel

I will install rear seat belts in the next week or two. I am going to install static type ......... keeps the kids from leaning forward and messing around! What about installing a set of the modern pretensioning type? Then run the wire that normally goes to the impact sensor behind the bumper to a button on the dashboard. Then when the kids lean forward and start messing around, just press the button.

Rear seat belts are on my to do list .. My wife says.
Where did you drill the holes to fit the belts , whats required from the mot, eu control, itv or what ever your test center is called.
Best belts to use . Kinda like the idea of sourcing belts from a salvage yard .. which car ?
Advice appreciated please.
Dean

You don't need to drill holes, they're already there blanked with bolts

I bought new static belts from quickfit sbs. I am dubious as to how easily the blanking screws in the lower wheel arch area will come out.... I might freeze them and heat them first before I go apply any amount of force. I expect the other to be not so bad due to location, but I am sure sods law will apply.

Thank you for the photos Cyf. I see you have you work cut out for youself. Where in France are you ? Im Heading down to Malaga within the next two weeks.
Hi Baldrick the bolts size is more of a worry to me . Guess there imperial or AF Which makes sourcing seat belts from a salvage yard a challenge for me . Unless i re thread them. Dean

Dean You might be surprised Dean. I have this vague recollection that seat belt anchor bolt threads were one of the first areas of international automotive standardization. They have always been the same here regardless of the age or origin of the car. However, that may only be as a result of local design rules (ADRs) which applied to locally manufactured and imported cars.

CYF,
It would be great if you could post lots of photos (in a separate thread or in photobucket) of the stripped body that would enable the rest of us to use them as reference when trying to determine what wat the body foes to gether and what it looks like with a part removed etc.. i now know where the rear seat back is attached thanks to these photos!
I also know where some of the wiring looms go and that the rear seat heater sucks fresh air from outside under the rear seat. ;D
great photos thanks

Well Baldrick (by the way, is it a reference to black adder?) I made pictures of every stage of the dismantling. I don't know what would be the best way to proceed: either I open a new thread or I simply post pictures when someone ask for something.

This is a great idea. Perhaps it could be a sticky.
There are other good photos lost in old forum threads, and then if anyone knows where they are, or finds them, and they are appropriate they could post links to that thread in yours.
Perhaps Admin could advise, but it sounds like a good resource to me.

Thanks CYF, Yes Baldrick is in ref to Blackadder. back in the late 80's when Blackadder was on TV, some friends decided it sounded enough like my proper name to use it... It still gets used very occasionally, usually when enough beer has been consumed to make us behave like teenagers again

I started installing the kit yesterday, but as there is a 25mm void under the rear parcel shelf and the kit only contained 30mm bolts, i have gone back to Quickfit for a longer bolt and a installation solution. I also asked them to advise whether using standard spacers for fill the 25mm void would put too much leverage on the attach point. i may have to use a spacer with a larger foot print to reduce the leverage load. I am not going to take any chances when these belt will be holding my kids in place.
