Try JR Wadhams, in general the parts are of excelent quality. Most seals are made in Australia and have a poor fit. JRW claims his are British made and should fit perefectly.

Sorry but that is a rubbish statement I have fitted loads of seals of all types from Scotts Old Auto Rubber of Australia and found them the best.

I have to concur that Scotts have a reputation of being excellent quality and are easier to fit. This is what I have personally found out by talking to other members. I will be using them to put on my car when it is done.

Just seen this thread. Scott from Scott's Old Auto Rubber has always been very helpful with advice, as well as prompt service. And I'm not just saying that to support an Aussie business.

I've replaced the seals on the stainless trim on the front doors with ones made for a Morris traveller. They had to be modified with a salpel but fit well and look almost original.I've found some readily available section that I'm sure will replace that round the rest of the door.I'll let you know how I get on. I know the purists will be horrified but each to his own.

I used seals from Scotts on all the doors and boot of my 3 Litre Saloon and have not complaints. Went on just fine.

I fitted a J R Wadham's boot seal recently and it was a real pig. Partly my fault for not thinking to lever open the channel along the bottom edge of the boot slightly (at least not until after several hours' cursing). I shouldn't have had to and I think the JRW seal is slightly too big. I asked JRW about it and they said they sell hundreds of these and have never had any complaints. I am not happy with the final result and may try a Scotts one next.
I am about to fit new JRW-supplied weatherstrips on the doors of my P5B saloon (i.e. the rubber seals along the base of the window frames). Any tips on how to do this job right first time?

I too have had trouble with the boot seal on two occasions, it does apear to be a larger section. Mine rolls off the upper mounting lip by the bottom of the screen area! As for the weatherstrip no problems with that except it tends to shrink and get a bit shorter over time, best to cut it a little longer than required maybe.

Steve, you tell us you have had problems with a boot seal but you did not tell us the important bit. Who did you get the seal from?

Dear readers, For unknwon reasons JRW seems to be a bad address. For me living in Holland his service and parts are always excellent. I would not have able to get my P5 on the road without his services. David Green might bea useful address for you all, but he never wants to post of send any parts by courier. Making it difficult, as travellnig over to the UK is time consuming and rather expensive.

I think, for some reason he's been unfairly banned from this site so the link doesn't work Use your browser to search J R Wadhams Ltd. Note to admin, if this is the case the ban is totally unacceptable to me and I suspect many others.

I wonder what difficulty agelein was having? Jon is banned from posting though isn't he? Seems a bad situation that the foremost supplier of Rover parts can't be a part of a forum about Rover cars .

Of course it is not the web address of JRW. That 's public domain.
The person Jonathan Wadham is banned from this forum.
The reason why makes me curious! As long as no personal insults or ethical misbehavour can be reported one should be able to attend.

Getting back to the subject. was interested in the recent posts about boot and door seal kits and I would like to say that i when I bought my car it came with door seals supplied by Dave Green. Later on I did some work on another Dutch owners P5Saloon and fitted a set from JRWadhams Ltd and they were definantly softer and maleable than the ones that came with our car and they fitted very well. For my own car I bought a boot seal from JRW and it fitted very well.

Note to admin, if this is the case the ban is totally unacceptable to me and I suspect many others. As a distant observer, may I make some observations. I don't know what the law is in the UK, but it's likely to be similar. Mr Wadhams has a tendency to impugn the reputations and ethics of other Rover parts suppliers. In almost 6 years on the forum, I have not noticed other suppliers doing this to him. I have seen him do this on his website, and he is perfectly entitled to do so and accept the risk of legal action. However, when it comes to this forum it puts the administrators and the P5 club (as the publisher of those views) in a potentially difficult legal position should those other suppliers decide to take action. I can imagine that it is a very difficult balancing act. It would be wonderful if all P5 parts and service providers could happily co-exist and contribute to the forum. We need them all.
