I am helping a friend install an electric fuel pump on his 1969 P5B. I need to identify the Main Fuel Line at the tank. From my research I assume that the Main line is the "lower" one (see picture). Hoping someone can confirm that this is correct. Thank you Patrick Attachment Deleted

The pump will be attached to the panel that holds the fan under the rear passenger side seat. That is about a low as I could figure out. Thanks for the recommendation. Patrick

Yes Thank you for the confirmation. We might remove the whole reserve line and switch in the future, but for now we will just put the pump on the main line. Patrick

It depends on what type of fuel pump you are using as to where it can be fitted. I have an electronic one that was originally fitted to the V8 Sherpa (will there be any at Roverfest !!) It is ideal as it is in one end and out the other and I mounted it on a cross member under the car and in front of the reserve fuel tap, so if needed I can still use reserve, although I am careful not to let the tank get too low as not sure how the pump would react to lack of fuel. For an outside location the pump would need to be waterproof.

The tank pickup is a simple concentric tube affair the reserve being an 1" longer goes down the centre of the main pick up which exits the side. If the pump is fitted low down at the front as mine is the reserve will continue to work. Mine, Facet has been like that for almost 20 years even though it says fit near the tank.
There are pics of the various set-ups in SEARCH as its a very common upgrade
