thanks very much - very helpful. On my P5B the clock is loose in the slot but i guess there will be a securing grub screw from the underside.

You are welcome. I got inspired and gave my clock a tune up, as has been a little late. These are mechanical clocks and not super accurate, and it is hard to get them better than +/- 10 seconds per 24 hour. Also make sure you hold the clock with 12 up when you measure. It runs a little faster upside down.

There is an adjustment screw on the back side. The clock does 270 beats per minute, BPM, and I use this app on my Android phone: The clock is simply pushed in, and you just push it out from behind. Jens, There is a small bracket with a clamping screw underneath the clock on my P5B so i am not sure if its not just a matter of pushing in-out Peter

Yes Peter - I saw that in the WSM but the bracket is missing and DG doesn't have one. It is small so I guess when its gone its gone! A careful self tapper or grub screw might secure the clock as it wriggles out over time.

Just stick a small piece of masking or insulation tape on one of the raised areas to pack it slightly

Are you sure it's a clock, Eric? In a P5! Surely not. Wouldn't it be a chronometer?

I just tuned my clock. Took me quite a while to get it right, and I suppose there won't be a 100% fit. Watch out: the free version of the app only works for 30 minutes. After that, the (detected) frequency is hidden and you'll have to buy the premium version of the app (€ 5.49 / ~£4.84). So you will have to either be quick or you'll end up paying (like me). In the end, my reading ranged from 269.98x to 270.02x over the course of ~5min, I suppose that should be alright. Until now I had to adjust the clock every day. I'd be happy if once per week would do the trick now. And, as a bonus, I threw in a LED-replacement for that dim bulb. FWIW, in my 1972 RHD Coupé, I had a 5/16" screw securing the clock. If you also have that screw: try not to remove it completely (unless you like fiddling it back in). Also, between the clock and the screw there is a little round/circular piece of metal that I suppose is meant to avoid damaging the clock when tightening the screw. I didn't see mine and it ended up in the opening to the left of the clock (took me half an hour to get it back out). It fits neatly into the little crevice above the screw. Below is a picture of the interior with the screw and that little piece of metal that secures the clock. jens : det var fedt, mange tak! Attachments:

The WSM showed the bracket and grub screw but I was unable to source either so I think I will go with Phil and use a soft wedge to just tighten it up enough to keep it in place As to timekeeping Im told you can get them converted to quartz but appearing the same.

"As to timekeeping Im told you can get them converted to quartz but appearing the same." Please tell me you are not serious! You may as well eviscerate the car and get rid of that noisy, unreliable and slow engine and stick in something useful like a Ford short block V8. Or we could all just sit in an armchair at home, imagine we are in a quality car and make Brmm brmm noises. :/

i don't follow your post. If I have a clock, why not have it working? I just note that operating can be improved with no detriment to appearance so what is your point?

I dont think I said I aspire to quartz clocks in either of my cars so readers shouldn't jump to conclusions! Keep calm and drink tea. Peace

I'd be happy if once per week would do the trick now. The tuning seems to have been quite successful. Six days have passed and when I checked a minute ago, it was off by one minute. It's nice that there are such simple things that can bring a smile on your face. Cheers, Olaf
