Evening all!
Having repaired all the cracks in my steering wheel for the third time ( this time right down to the core using pc7 epoxy and many coats of high build primer ) I am now ready for top coat.
The question to all is what paint to use? I first used Hammerite smooth back in the 90's when it was good stuff but wouldn't even try now. I last used a generic satin black which looked wrong. The finish was originally a more glossy black but was of course plastic.
Just wondered if others had any success with specific paints?
I am toying with the idea of a 2 pack aerosol black to use once and throw away... any advice welcome!
Barry

The 2 pack makes sense Barry...it's a very tough paint...or you could ship it here.... pearlcraft.com.au/Spend a moment and take a look at the steering wheels in their 1950s - 60s Gallery.

I've used black shiny POR15 on several s/wheels. Lasting well. Leave tin and s/wheel in sun for a while, and use a soft brush. I actually used a small spray gun and compressor. Brushing won't require thinners, but spraying will.

I've used por15 before but I must confess it was horrible to use and took forever to dry here!
I also thought it was for underbody since it's not uv stable?

Hi bud,
My car looks better in the pic than it actually is,
Those tyres were on the car when I bought it back in 93 and they are a massive 225 x 75 x 15. I need to change them before the car goes back on the road but I also love the way they look and fill the arches.
I think they are general American or ameriway- stupidly expensive now!
I can't decide whether to go stock or stay like this as it's part of the reason the bought the car in the first place!

Have you tried Mertyle prod??? they specialise in steering wheel refurbishment especially wood rimmed versions.
They did my Daimler steering wheel and my Bentley steering wheel to a very high standard indeed. Price was good too.
