My apology if this subject has been discussed before - I am new to the Club and Forum and could not find this subject.
Does anybody have experience of Wadhams interior trim kits especially seats. My P5B Coupe definitely needs a retrim and I am exploring options. Aware of Velvet and his vast experience regarding trim, I have messaged him but no reply yet.
Any advice welcome - at the moment interior is Saddle tan but I rather fancy Buckskin or blue.
Thank you
Barrie

Yes, JR wadhams seat covers kit which he sells for £1700 are fine, but thats only half the story as preparing, shape-ing and getting the seat ready to accept the new covers is where its all at, and in my experience even most trimmers struggle with them. Personally i wouldn't reccomend anyone to take the seat covering on themselves but other parts of the interior is fine for the DIY enthusiast. Just to clarify; it takes me 300 hours to to re-trim a p5b in its entirety including headlining & carpets.

I think so Warwick There's a huge effort and time needed to do a retrim Velvet has probably got retrim-itis and needs to have a bit of time to enjoy?

I've recently completed a refurb on my seats. There was no way I could afford to retrim them, the drivers was the worst of course with split seams.
I used furniture clinic products and ordered a massive slab of foam off eBay to refill the bolsters - the uppers were full of damp stinking dust that was all that remained of the original foam. New foam was shaped using the mother in laws moulinex carving knife with the pics on this forum of Peter and john's cars giving really good reference to overall shape.
When I stripped the covers I took them to my local auto trimmer to repair the seams - they were shocked that I'd gone this far myself but were very happy to restitch the seams turning them round in sometimes only a day for about sixty quid a cover as I recall. Typically the one seam we thought was ok has now split so I am repeating the process on the passenger seat currently.
If it was me I'd say watch a bunch of you tube videos especially the furniture clinic ones and have a go. Take pics to remind you and take the time to clean and lubricate all the mechanisms at the same time. My seats used to recline without being asked to but are now smooth again.
You have little to lose and a lot of satisfaction to gain! I am chuffed with the way mine have turned out and they look clean and tidy without looking new.
Best of luck!
Barry

If you'd like to save a few pounds then you can obtain the same products as supplied by Furniture Clinic via the manufacturers at www.nueraproducts.co.uk/ They are very helpful and happy to provide advice. Also, Furniture clinic can only provide water based colourants whereas Nuera can provide either water or spirit based colourants. The spirit based tend to be more durable over time. I have no connection with Nuera other then being pleased with their service, product and price. The only think you won't get from Nuera that you'll get from FC is fancy packaging. Hope this helps someone.
