Hi, I'm in need of help identifying my interior upholstery colour as I want to purchase the correct carpet colour. I gather there is Red / Toledo Red/ Mulberry. To further help identify, possibly the year, the back of the front seats have little metallic squares peeking out of the top of the pockets. I also have a cigar lighter, for the back seat, one with chrome on it and one without. Thanks Rob

The colour of the leather/vinyl is Toledo Red and is still available; (Martrims vinyl card 1B MC04). If your rear seats are like the picture and have 8 flutes per seat then your model is; P5 MK11C

Hi Velvet, thanks for the information. The back seat has eight flutes and my car is a p5 Mark 11C. It is also a coupe. I was hoping it was not just Red. I thought that Toledo Red was only on Mark 111s ? As you might have guessed this is not the original interior to the car. I am happy to hear that the previous owner purchased an interior for the correct model. Have you used a photograph of your car interior? I am trying to gather information on interiors so I can put it back correctly. There does not seem to be much on the details. I notice, on some cars, the cigar lighter is covered in padded vinyl. I take it Mark 11s don't? Thanks Rob

Toledo red was just a late Mk3 colour and is not the same red as used on earlier cars. However the red shades did vary between cars. It was just called "RED" by Rover so it is just a matter of matching what is available now to the un-faded shade you have

Yes, i agree with Phil, Red is an easy colour to match, there are many many variants of it and any good supplier will most likely have a shade that will match your sample. However that is not the case with buckskin or saddle-tan.

That looks like faded mulberry to me.
While a deeper red carpet will look OK with a brighter red on the upholstery and doors the converse is probably not true.

Hi, thanks for the input. I have included more pictures. As I mentioned the interior is not original to the car and with the price of a carpet set I would not like to have a pillar box red striking me in the eyes each time I got in. The photograph supplied by Phil looks like mine. As you can see from the lovely view of my conservatory I am working on the seats with Gliptone. Thanks Rob Attachment DeletedAttachment Deleted

I may have been mistakenly under the impression that my P5 MkIIb interior was mulberry. The first picture (least faded)is probably the most accurate. But colours can be VERY misleading, especially if taken in poor light or with a flash. The unfaded colour I would have described as crimson.

That is just "Red" - Mulberry was only used on the late Mk3s and the P5Bs. Its really maroon and not a durable shade

I agree with Phil and once you've seen Mulberry (as it was when new) you certainly wouldn't confuse it with red.

Hi guys, I just thought I'd try to show the colour of 'Mulberry' - as it is in my '73 Coupe'...its quite distinct and different from the earlier 'Red' as in the 3-Ltr cars. In real life, it really is very-much a rich 'claret'/ wine red... I hope this helps a little... Regards, (PS - I don't know why the last photo has arrived on its side??? Sorry!) Guy.

Very helpful photos.
Accepting that the memory (well, mine anyhow) plays tricks over the years, my thoughts are that the colour shown in rear seats shown in the first photo is more representative of Mulberry when it was new. I don't know whether it's simply a result of light reflection on the front seats but I've always thought Mulberry to be quite dark but it's very difficult after c50 years to find trim that hasn't been subject to a degree of light degradation and, of course, the 'red' shades tend to suffer more than others.

Hi, Its more a trick of the light sir...I have a Webasto sunroof, which was open when the photograph's were taken - hence the view... It was just that the rear seats were in shadow - they were under the cover of the rear section of roof...where-as the fronts were in bright, open sunlight... The rear headrests show the colour of Mulberry nicely in these photos though - again, their in direct sunlight... If you'd like to see better views of the cars interior etc, my 'adopted-son' Sam did a 'review' of it - along with his friend Lee, on their Youtube channel last year - search for the 'Odd-Jobs' Best Wishes, Guy.

... PS - I don't know why the last photo has arrived on its side??? Sorry! ... No need to apologise. Not your fault. Blame Windows 10. I presume that is what you're using. Your photo is in portrait format, so of course you had to turn your camera on its side to take it. In the past, it would have appeared on its side when you viewed it, so you had to rotate it through 90 degrees when saving it. But now, some nong at Microsoft thought it was a good idea for Windows to detect this and rotate the image on the computer screen. Without telling you this. Only the viewed image is rotated, not the jpeg file itself, which is still lying on its side. So when you up load it, guess what? It's still on its side. And as far as I can tell, there is no way of turning this 'helpful' feature off. Try opening it in a different photo program (sorry,..App) and you'll find that it is actually sideways. Then use that program to rotate it and save it.

Windows 10 auto-rotation of photosThis has prompted me to do some searching again. After 60 minutes of Googling and reading, I was very disappointed. People have been complaining about this since Windows 10 was released, and it was clear from Microsoft chat and help forums that MS doesn't really care. Then I found this. It's a very readable explanation of the cause of the problem, plus a clear step by step guide to fix the problem with particular photos. Unfortunately, there still seems to be no way to turn this 'feature' off. Here's a link to the website. www.ivertech.com/Articles/Image-Rotation-Issue-With-Windows-10.aspxDavid (Admin), I was going to make this post in this old instructional thread, and just post a link to it here. roverp5.proboards.com/thread/2867/upload-pictureBut I'd forgotten that it was a Sticky and locked. I also discovered that it was very outdated. It recommends using Photo_ucket. Shock! Horror! So perhaps you could Update the old thread in the "Board problems & Queries" section. Then move my post (this one) to that thread, replacing it with a link.

Hi guys, I just wondered if anybody knew why the other photo's I attached to my last post have vanished please??? I spent literally ages trying to fathom-out how to attach them...and now their gone, with the exception of the least-clear photograph! Have they been removed? (It would have been nice to have been notified if so, with a quick explanation as to why?) or is it yet-another computer 'bug' that I don't understand, like the rotating interior shot??? Regards to all... Guy.

Hi John,
In my second post, there were three photo's of the rear & roof of my car - nicely showing the colour of the Mulberry rear-headrests & seats in sunlight...
Two of the rear and one of the roof have vanished sir!
Kind Regards,
Guy.

Your second lot of photos are not visible because you did not use "Add Attachment", you simply placed a link to

That's odd, because when I first posted-up my reply, all the photos were there when I returned to look for any replies about 3-hours after posting...but they had gone when I checked again, later the next day... Once I noticed they were gone, I then tried to re-post them back up, but couldn't...hence my being peeved that they'd vanished! Guy.
