Thank you, you'd stay with 185s not up a size to 195s?

Yes - it is the nearest recommended equivalent and easiest to get hold of although some have used them.
Some have fitted 205 x15 which were once plentiful for old Jags. These strain the steering joints and power steering and can make the ride harder without any better road holding
Tyres are controversial topic going back 16 years on this Forum so try SEARCH!

I fitted a complete set of Ovation's about a month ago, since when the car has covered about 800 miles. I am happy with handling, road noise and braking on dry roads. I have only been out a couple of times in the wet so am not able to offer much of a view on handling and braking under such conditions. The new tyres are 185/80x15's and replaced 205/70/15's. In short, I am happy and would certainly fit Ovation's again.

The Ovations grip very well in the wet - much better than elderly X plies and radials

I recently fitted Michelin XVS-p. Classic car tyre for the Citroen DS. Superb tyre but I don’t see it ever mentioned around here.

The Vredesteins are back on the market at a silly inflated price, about £340 each, yet ones for the P6 are £126. I shall go for Ovation, but many stockists seem to be out of stock at the moment so any info' on that welcome.

That is crazy money for any tyre, especially for a Vredestein. I recently purchased a set of Ovations from Camskill though I have just had a look on their site and they are not offering them at present. They are, however, offering Vredestein 185/80x15's at £128.40 incl. VAT per tyre.
Hope this helps.

HiFly are the same as Ovations. Have you tried Oponeo?

I think I said already but I got some Dimax Radar Classics from camskill. I was going to get ovations but the Dimax ones have a more classic looking sidewall and tread. I won't do much mileage but I am really pleased so far. I won't use the car in the wet unless out already but I'd say they are worth a look and a great price.
I fitted 185 80 15's to replace some American general 225 75 15 white walls and the car ride and handling is transformed.
Dimax also do a 195 80 15 which was tempting to fill the arches with but I calculated the rolling radius would have been even bigger than what I had before so I went standard.

Hi All, I’m so glad I found this thread. Went to get my coupe out today and found a flat tyre. Went to my local tyre shop and they tell me that the tyre is 21 years old. Oops! Better get a new set. I’ve used longstone tyres before with other cars so I look at what they’re recommending. Blimey set of four is going to be £1000+…… Then I find this. Four Hifly from Camskill - £218 delivered. That’ll do nicely….
Cheers! Mark

I went for Camskill Federals are they seem fine. My gut feeling was to avoid Chinese, but then someone told me in China there are millions of cars running on them and many familiar "western" ones are made in the far east anyway so ................

I know the conventional wisdom is that the chinese made tyres are rubish and I bought mine as a stop gap for less than NZD 100 each for a set of five Goodride RP28's. I've been pleasantly surprised with both the dry and wet grip. They may not wear particularly well but as you point out, we don't tend to wear our tyres out. I've done around 3000 miles on them and no complaints. Recently I had to brake hard and nearly got rear ended by a 2000 or thereabouts Merc which would have ABS I assume. Not a problem I would have anticipated!

I and another local member have just bought sets of Vredesteins. They were out of stock for some time but a new batch obviously produced, mine date stamped last week of 2021. Camskill had them at a very competative price.

It depends on their profile - they look wrong to me!

Up to individual choice of course. All I will say is that they were how they left the factory and how the designer intended.
