I like your cool gauges, but aren't the air boxes in gold a little bling? Surely satin black for a Rover.

I like your cool gauges, but aren't the air boxes in gold a little bling? Surely satin black for a Rover. Well that's a matter (choice of colour) that deals more with personal taste, aesthetics and disposition. They were originally black and if left like that (in my view) added nothing to the overall look of the engine. Generally too drab for me David. Bling to my view is a fully chromed and accessorized engine, that's something that doesn't appeal at all. Properly engineered fittings and a contrast of elements and colour (to a degree) is what I prefer to focus on. Carelessly fitted high tension leads and wiring laying randomly all over the top of a freshly built engine I find more unsettling. This engine when fitted to my Rover coupe will contrast against a satin black engine bay not body colour, similar in some aspects to my MG Magnette but obviously the engines are different colours. Unlike the Wilkes brothers, Rover grey just doesn't appeal.

Cranking-Up the P76 Hybrid Engine. Finally got all the little bits and pieces in place with the engine and the test stand and finally fired it up with a bit of Murphy's Law intervening initially. The video below runs for about 4 mins with some dialogue outlining what was done.
I can certainly recommend spending the money on a full balance job (this engine came together from a whole range of parts, some modified some left stock) as it definitely promotes a smooth running and revving engine...even when not yet properly tuned.

Well thank you Percy. You never really know how something's going to turn out when you modify it so much. Now to tune it properly. 👍

TransfersI ordered a set of transfers (adhesive backed) from a graphic design business in America some time ago. They eventually arrived and I placed them aside. Having sorted virtually all the mechanical work on my project engine, I thought I'd may as well fit them today. Initially I'd pencilled a design and the graphic artists at the company resolved the images and provided a couple versions. All for the princely sum of $15 AUD plus postage. So here are the transfers fitted to each of the pressed tin rocker covers of the P76 V8. Of course though, with the air filters fitted little of the script is visible. I still have 2 larger versions which I may affix to the top of the air filter pods.
