I am looking for the original black plastic socket for the front headrest light wiring. I have the correct plug on the cable from the headrests. Does anyone know where I might find these? I have been looking on eBay for quite some time but no luck yet. Any ideas welcome.

I am going to have the same problem very soon. I have the headrests with wiring but not the cables that run down the seat back to the loom connector.

I have been trying on and off for 18 months now to find a source of the sockets. They seem to be akin to hens' teeth! I have decided to make a pair from scratch - a lot of work for such small components - if and when I find the time. If anyone does come up with a source, please put me down for a pair!

Checking old posts you'll find they were called bulgin plugs. The company still exists and makes connectors but the old design is obsolete. You can search eBay for these and they pop up from time to time!

Thanks for the replies Chaps. I will keep scanning eBay for them.

The photo below shows the wiring loom on the headrest including the wiring clip at the centre of the photo. I cannot fathom out how, or to what, that is attached.

That clip screws into the seat frame the cable looks a tad short after it!

Thanks John. Both my units are exactly the same and are as they came off the car a few years back!If the clip is attached to the seat frame it prevents the spring-like wire coil from compensating for movement of the headrest vis-a-vis the seat frame, surely?

Doesn't the plug connect the seat to the floor? The headrest plugs into the socket on the other end. The coiled wire allows for seat adjustment.

Mike, there is another such coil at the base of the seat, as you say. This is the one between the light switch in the headrest and the top of the seat.

I am not at home to have a look, but yes, that is the short cable that connects the light in the headrest to the socket in the top of the seat. I don't think that the clip is visible on the base of the headrest, so it must be fixed inside the headrest somewhere.

George, I came to that conclusion too but how is far from obvious.

From memory, I think that there is a small panel that is screwed on the base of the headrest, could it be that the clip sits on top of one of those screws with something on top to lock it. I don't think that any of the coiled cable is hidden in the headrest as it is needed outside to allow for the headrest to be raised.

With the headrest upside down and the metal stem sticking up, there are 2 captive bolts securing it. That clip fits on the bolt closest to the switch, with nut on top.
