I have at last found a OEM pair of BPF L700 X complete with new bowls rims etc, I wanted period correct headlights to convert to LED, H4's stamped Lucas made in? were not an option also H4's came along a bit later, I also fitted LED sidelights rear ones on order. The LED's I fitted work really well with a very good beam pattern very little adjustment needed :-) BPF LED

Late P4s and P5s had standard Lucas 45/60w sealed beams not the outdated pre-focus 700s. P5Bs had sealed beams of 60/75w which are completely obsolete but quite good for the time
The LEDs fitted to our night-time used P5 Coupe make the P5B high output headlamps, the standard sealed beams on the the P5/LRs and the retrofit H4 Wipac 1980s Quad-optics in the the 1968 Mini seem like candles.
The 36/36w P2 8" headlights are quite adequate on unlit deserted roads but useless apart from marker lights on lit roads with other traffic

It was the glass pattern I wanted Phil (being a bit Anal) the LED gives two parallel beams the reflector is immaterial as the pattern is created by the Led lens, you could have no mirroring and it will still work!

Ah, I see you've joined the LED Lighting Club John. Welcome. Your headlight switch and associated wiring would thank you if they could .

I am sure the wiring will be happier Vince It was having a short run in the dark earlier in the year made my mind up Vince, the lights were so dim I wondered how I used to manage in the 70's? I suppose everybody was using similar lighting so it didn't matter! It may be my lamps are getting a bit old

You and me both John. I'm thinking of fitting a multifocal windscreen. 😉

The Wipac units have the n/s kick up on dip beam which can also be adjusted in LED converter ring
