I am refurbishing the painted part of the wheels. My question is whether to use gloss or semi gloss paint.

What sticks to chrome?

Rough the chrome with a scotch brite pad, then clean the area you want to paint with lacquer thinners, mask the areas you don't want to paint, then use etch primer as the base coat and follow up with a suitable black wheel paint. Obviously use aerosol cans or a spray gun.

In addition to what's already been said, I seem to recall that satin black was the correct 'colour'originally, if originality is important, but happy to be corrected. Other than that, it's personal choice and I've seen quite a few, not necessarily P5Bs, in gloss.

Definitely Satin Black and the original paint did not stick on very well for very long. Modern paints may do a better job!

Yes, satin black. I think that I used a red oxide primer first and I used a good quality brush. The advantage of a brush over spraying is that you can take the wheels indoors.

Thanks for the comments. Will use etch primer and satin black spray.
