They're certainly asking a top dollar for this car. Interesting that there are no interior photos and that it has ABS brakes(?). That's news to me. My personal view is that it's kind of irrelevant as to who owned the car previously...no matter who they were or what title these individuals' held.

The whole "Gentlemans club on wheels" thing has been done to death, and it's not even true.
I went into a Gentlemans Club once, and I have to say most P5's I've seen have a lot less cleavage and a bit more class!

There are internal shots to view on the seller website. The drivers seat is showing the usual signs of crumbling foam but, overall, a very nice car although a bit pricey. I think it's been on the market a long time.
In the UK, there is still some value in a cars provenance as it makes the history a bit more interesting. As an extreme example, HM The Queen's personal P5B JGY280 is going to have a very large premium simply due to a previous owner who is quite well known!

Thanks for all the feedback. I've decided that without an expert appraisal I'll have to pass on any sight unseen negotiations.

Highly unlikely that it is worth that money. There are 12 pictures but no shots of the inside or under the bonnet, probably something to hide and grill looks quite mucky.

There are lots of photos of the interior, etc, on the dealership website (there's a link on the eBay listing). It looks nice, but definitely not worth the asking price.

The market will determine what it's worth.Very good to excellent cars are not that common and many are in sticky hands. Why shouldn't a good P5B, especially the rarer saloon, not achieve similar prices to the much lesser Mk2 Jag?

Mostly because they never have.
Mk2 jags have an amazing racing pedigree, have a very strong enthusiast following, are arguably the most beautiful saloon car ever, have been "hero" cars in countless TV shows and movies (usually being used by the bad guys to outrun the cops, while the politicians are being chauffered about in P5's) - which gives them a strong public profile (your neighbours cousin will know a MK2 as a Jaguar from 100 feet away), have manual overdrive options, were sold in the USA which again boosts the pool of enthusiasm, etc, etc, etc.
Like it or not, our love for our cars and inside info on the vastly superior build and finish quality of a P5 over a Mk2 is a well kept secret that allows us to continue to be able to buy, insure and operate our cars much more cheaply than the average Mk2 Jaguar aspirant.
While it's nice to see the cars appreciating in value, the pool of enthusiasts is what defines the value, and the biggest driver of enthusiasm/value in the classic car market is older guys buying the cars they lusted after in their youths.

Looks like it has had the usual injury to the bonnet. The bonnet flies up while driving, bending the cross brace that the hinges bolt to. The owner then pulls over and tries to force the bonnet back down which then bends the bonnet as well. Mine was like this when I got it.

Today I visited Wins International, dealer in P6 spares, next door to which is another firm dealing in classic car sales. There was a P5 Saloon outside which in outward appearance is identicle in colour to the one in Wolverhampton, also on 'K' plates. However talking with the proprietor it has just arrived from Kent and he intends to sell on ebay as ripe for restoration. He is thinking about a modest four figure sum, which from a brief look is probably about right, given mechanical side is reasonable.

That does seem a very nice car indeed & it would be very gratifying for us Saloon owners if it were to sell for that money. Personally l have my doubts though hope springs eternal & all that.
