Although my P5B has a stainless exhaust, only the boxes and the front pipes are stainless the pipes to the boxes being mild steel.
I have had to weld up the pipes several times which is becoming tiresome. Additionally, even when the system is gas-tight the exhaust note is far louder than it should be. It is likely that the wadding has been at last partly blown out over the years, the system being of considerable age and I have been tempted to open up the boxes and re-pack them but given the state of the pipes it is hardly worth the effort.Replacement is the way forward.
I would be interested to hear recommendations of manufacturers/suppliers from others who have been down this route.

I bought mine from Bell Steel UK, Cricklade. I believe they were the original suppliers of exhausts to Rover, then in mild steel of course.

Many thanks Sam. I will give Bell Steel a bell to see what they can offer. I had thought of using Gough's in Nottinghamshire but Bell Steel are much closer!
