Hi
Has anyone been able to remove the chrome plated channel into which the vertical front edge of the rear quarterlight glass fits?
With the rubber seals removed I can see that the top of the channel has a peg that locates in a hole within the stainless steel frame. The bottom of the channel has a round bar which extends down into the doorframe. This bar has a threaded bottom end that goes into a steel block that is welded to the frame. There’s a grub screw here which I’ve removed.
The manual says to unthread the bar, but this isn’t possible as the channel fouls the frame and prevents rotation beyond 180 degrees.
Is the round bar threaded into the channel and could this have seized ?
Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

I have never tried this but removing the whole window frame from the door may be the answer?

In case anybody wants to remove the chrome channel, the round bar does just slide into the bottom hinge of the channel, so once you’ve slackened off the grub screw you should be able to unscrew the bar and remove it vertically downwards as the manual says. Unfortunately mine had seized with the bottom hinge. I ended up cutting through the round bar with a hacksaw before unscrewing it from underneath. The chrome channel could then be lowered away from the top locating hole. The remainder of the round bar eventually came away with releasing oil and mole grips. Its then just a case of welding together the two halves of the round bar. Attachment Deleted

When the upper frame is removed from the door, there is a small nylon block which is threaded and through which the small grub screw locks onto the threaded pivot, once the correct tightness has been achieved using the slot in the end of the shaft. On my car, most of the upper part of this pivot had rotted away and required replacement, so I plan to replace them with stainless shafts to prevent a repeat.

Thanks for the advice. My near side one had rotted into two pieces so was easier to remove.
