Going to get my saloon finished off professionally.
I'm going to do the mechanics myself with experts where necessary. Also 99% of the body work welding done.
New sills, inner and outer D posts, catch boxes, rear inner wings, front wing repaired and lead loaded, tonneau panel bottoms, all four doors repaired with lower repair panels , 2 x new o/s rear wings, replacement boot and bonnet.. All repair panels sourced from Wadhams. Other minor repair patches to panels done.
Only welding required is rear R/H jack tube to be welded back on and one of the floor holes for mounting drivers seat to be repaired. So the bodywork just needs these things doing and all the panels adjusted for gaps and spraying etc.
I drove the car into the garage 10 years ago and it hasn't run since so I'll be oiling the bores before trying to turn it over
Carbs to be overhauled, so recommendations for that would be appreciated.
Also, when on here a couple of years ago there was reference to a couple of club members who did BW35 overhauls with BW65 internals. So would like to know if they are still doing that and contact details if they are.
I've already had a rover specialist from Suffolk come down on Sunday, who will be quoting for the bodywork/spraying.
Can any of you name any restorers/sprayers who you would recommend in the Essex/ East Anglia area (or further afield if that is your area) as I want to get at least 2 quotes. I have a 16 point schedule of things that need doing to minimise the risk of getting into the "you didn't ask me to do that " discussion, once they have the car.
If there are some you would definitely not recommend then please send me a PM with that info. We all want to avoid litigious businesses but we should always do our best to make sure their opportunity for ripping off someone else should be minimised. Discretion assured.
