I’m in the process of removing my right hand cylinder head but I cannot remove the bolt that attaches the dipstick to the head. Is a special spanner required and which size is this bolt? Regards, Chris

It should just be an ordinary bolt, but it is steel into the alloy and may have siezd. Use a socket or spanner that is a perfect fit and hopefully it will come undone. You could spray it with antisieze.

If possible, try to give it a hard hit with a hammer and use a six sided socket to attempt removal.

Thank you, the problem is the bolt is quite recessed, and too close to the bulkhead and I can’t fit a 6 sided spanner. Also I cannot get a good fit with my 4 sided (inch) spanners. I sprayed wd40 a few days ago and will try again with my bahco which fits best, but was wondering which spanner is supposed to fit.
