THERE IS A FIRST FOR EVERYTHING ! I took my p5b to a little car meet up in a village in france on sunday morning for the first time, pulled up, nothing unusual.....walked around.. had a cup of tea ...had a chat.....coupe attracted a bit of interest.... now this has been the norm ! the normal for 45 years of owning my rover ! i was about to get in the car and leave ...with 5 enthusiast mulling over the car and chatting..when one of them said ,,, can you open the bonnet to look at the engine !..... WELL.. for the very ever first time in the whole 45 years of ownership and going to different shows,,,fetes.....meets..etc has anyone asked me to open the bonnet !!... even my wife said.. i cannot believe that has happened ! i did however oblige and spent another 15 minutes talking V8s. I still am finding this really funny/strange/bizaar that it has taken 45 years for someone to see the engine !! Do you think this is a record, can it be beaten, and can i contact the GUINNESS BOOK OF RECORDS !! LOL.

With the rareness of the P5 in the US, it seems that most of the time, when I stop to buy gas, someone always comes up to me to ask what kind of car it is! So far, no one has asked me to open the bonnet!

Interesting, David. I took Winston to the All British Field Meet in Portland a few weeks ago. He got second in class (behind a Jensen Interceptor Drophead, so an acceptable loss), but interestingly almost no one had their bonnets up. I guess here in the US, engine bays are expected to be perfect, with big V8’s, superchargers, chrome and blue anodized pipe clamps, so the British boys tend to accentuate the chrome, leather and wood.
