Hello from Australia - I'm a new member and this is my first post! Unfortunately, the starter relay in my 1969 P5B has gone this morning - starter stuck on even with key removed (turned it off by tapping on the starter relay which opened the circuit again). Now it is not closing the circuit properly...so probably cactus after 55 year of service. From what I've been able to determine the starter relay is 30 amp. I have a spare Bosch 30 amp relay on my shelf, and I was wondering if there is anyone out there who knows if there is anything "special" about those original Lucas starter relays, that means I shouldn't be able to swap it out with this one (other than the obvious fact that I would then have a non-Lucas electrical part in my car 😔 )?

Hello,
Welcome!
I would be amazed if a 30 amp solenoid would do the job. I would have thought 200amps would be the minimum, probably more to allow a bit of a safety margin. Is the solenoid you have for a starter motor?

Thanks Mike, it is a 6RA relay (looks like a SRB113) but the full current of the starter does not go through it, it just sends current to activate the solenoid I think...
Cheers,
Matt
