I need a suitable adhesive to stick the vinyl trim to the cant rails. As the cant rails were rusty, I've de-rusted and painted them with smooth Hammerite. Adhesives such as EvoStick and Thixofix state they're not be used for vinyl. I have got an upholstery adhesive that I know will work, having used it when refurbishing my seats, but it's an aerosol with a wide spray pattern so not ideal for the thin cant rails. I'd like an adhesive that can be spread on.
Suggestions / recommendations anyone?

Any latex based adhesive will work such as Copydex or vinyl flooring adhesive. All are water based

How about a bitumen based glue.

How about a bitumen based glue. This will stain the vinyl and also harden with age and soften in strong sunshine.

High temperature spray adhesive would be my choice. It needs to be high temperature otherwise it is prone to peeling in sunshine.

I tried Copydex, but it didn't stick to the painted metal.
In the end I used the Trim spray adhesive. With some very careful spraying a section at a time it did the job.
Thanks for the replies though.
