Here's a question for Phil (Nottingham) and perhaps any other knowledgeable enthusiast who would like to chime in with the relevant particulars. I need to replace a couple of well worn universal joints on my P5 coupe. The last time I did this was over 30 years ago when I was initially rebuilding/recommissioning my Coupe as a daily driver. Although there are several major car parts suppliers in OZ where I live, I don't have specific knowledge of the range of cars produced in the UK that were contemporaries of the P5 and that used the same universal joints. Querying young and knowledgeless parts guys about components for a 1960s P5 Rover is an exercise in frustration and futility. So Phil, if your reading this could you provide me with a list of manufacturers or cars that used the same universal joint. 👍

Hi Vince,
When I replaced the propshaft cruciforms 10-15 years ago, it was a Land Rover part, though I couldn't tell you which one.

Series Land Rover parts - OEM Hardy Spicer can still be had but the last lot I tried failed in a short time. I use the same UJs on our P5 P5B P4 and S2 S3 Landies www.ebay.co.uk/itm/162645506970

I believe this is the size universal joint required. As yet I haven't actually measured an old universal joint for size. Size equates to the cap diameter and also the width of the joint from the top of one cap to the top of the other cap. This universal joint I'm told should fit: Rover P5, P5B & P6 If someone has more specific knowledge of either actual size/dimensions or of a retailer (especially in the Southern hemisphere), please feel free to chime in.
