Author: mike Date: 12/31/2004 9:54 am EDT New to the p5 and have a good condition one i am trying to get started. first problem is cant get th ???e bonnet open. is there a simple alternative way to get it open suspect the cable is seized and dont want to damage bonnet. second problem is that starter turns over slowly when jump started. car not been run for 3 years. any ideas as to why it would be turning over so slowly?

Author: Richard ZF Date: 12/31/2004 10:37 am EDT Push a large screw driver through the grille bars and push the catch lever over against the cable pull direction. The bonnet should spring up. Try not to break the aluminium 'catch' which holds the bonnet down to prevent it coming up completely. Clean all terminals to battery leads and starter motor. Charge up two 12v batteries and connect them up in series. Give the air filter a sqirt of some thing exciting and give it a quick spin. If you can't get it started within a minute, don't carry on or you will do the starter motor harm. Good Luck. Happy New Year
