Author: jamie Date: 1/1/2005 6:54 am EDT iam haveing my p5b re painted on removeing the chrome strip from the sills ive noticed the sills are painted black is this a special paint and what finish should it be matt or gloss also on my car from the front of the chrome strip the black tapers down towards the wheel arch is this correct or sould it be straight also on removing the the brake tank from under the wing i found it to be 10% full of what seemed a mixture of water sludge and brake fluid is this a problem or not ive been told that the tank is only there in case the engine cuts out whilst going down hill to give some reserve brake assistance as modern cars dont have this do you think it would be okay to bypass it or not many thanks jamie member 5339

The sill paint was a special satin finish paint and goes from centre of strip from back to front in a straight line.
Most use Stone guard covered with a stain bacl finsih these days..
It has been covered endless times on the old board if you can fnd it.
The Servo Tank has a drain plug and condensation can collect. No brake fluid should be in it.
They do eventually perforate and cause erratic idling and poor brakes and no vac reservoir is actually needed and they are often bypassed.
