I have always thought (and I roughly rember the news at the time) that Grace of Monaco died in a P5. However some wags hjave insisted it was a P6. Internet searches have not come up with a definitive answer.
Can you help?

This was also hotly debated on the old forum and it was generally concluded it was a P6B
I do recall seeing some photo's at the time

I remember seeing the car being craned up from the cliff on the news. I would swear that it was a black or maybe admiralty blue P5 coupe.
However, all things point to it being a P6 ?

I had always thought it was a P5 but I watched a tv programme about Grace Kelly a year or two back and they showed the wreckage of the car. It was a P6. Rover always caused confusion by not naming the P5B and P6B in a clearly different way and this may be why the wrong car was named.

Yes but the Independent is not noted for its reliablity (are any?) and probably sourced from the same place where the myth came about it was a P5.
Most people confuse P4-P5-P6 anyway even Rover caused much confusion when they introduced th P6B by renaming the P5B 3500 the 3 1/2 Litre but keeping the bdages the same,
In any event is a P5B saloon or coupe really vehicle that Princess Grace would drive in those hills - the P6B was far more suitable both as to image and practicality
