Ive just found this club site and I would like to congratulate all involved.
I have always appreciated the Rover marque and currently have a couple of P6 estates. I have recently gained permission (conditional!) from my wife to obtain a P5!! (the conditioon being that our house is renovated first - so maybe by next summer if Im lucky!)
I attended the International Rover rally in Austria this May and there were a good few P5 examples there (all LHD).
(If anyone would like photos from that event I am happy to send them)
What would be the amount neccessary to get a good (but not perfect) P5? - I favour the 3500 (largely as same engine in my P6's!) and the coupe version. I dont mind buying one in the UK RHD (and then dealing with the Belgian mountains of paperwork!)
Thank you

Glad you like the forum
The V8 Coupe is the most desirable and sought after of the P5 range - the prices can vary tremendously depending on condition. Unfortunately condition varies and high price does not always mean excellent condition.
I suggest you start looking at the price guides and join our club but prices range from £3000 - £15000

My sympathies about the deal regarding doing the house first before you can get the car. It's a bit like having to finish your homework before being allowed a packet of crisps. I am thinking of setting up a web site so that all us poor men(maybe some women) can vent their anger at this cruel act of blackmail, as I too was struck by the same ultimatum and had no one to talk to. ;D

In my humble opinion it is very important to use a big deal of psycholpgy here. Not that it helps with 100% warranty, but perhaps. There are 3 scenarios : 1) renovate the house. But chances are that should you ever reach the end, your 'other half' will extent the project. This will be an iterative condition !! 2) Ask your 'better half' to help you with something that she can handle. For instance detailed planning/drawings or choose of colour, furniture etc. If you can play the ball back on her's half of the field things will slow down, and you can prepare the garage, look for cars etc. 3) Flood her with flowers, romantic weekends at the sea-side, visit her parents etc. Then when she starts loosing the focus at the house-project, you slowly starts talking about summer-vacations to Southern France in a high class classics..... Got the idea ? Here in Denmark there is this commercial from the flowerists, about a man in a hardware-store standing with the largest pneumatic power-drill in his hand. Then he sighs, put it back on the shelf and prepares for bying the smallest battery-drill, he can find. Then his wife enters the scene; throws the cheap battery-drill to the side, and presses the large power-drill into his hands and drags him to the check-out. Then comes the sign "Remember what giving your wife flowers can bring you"... It is strictly forbidden for male members to show this to their wifes. We don't want to loose our secrets, so we... Should there be female members, we are in deep .... now !
