I have just discovered some 'Formula One' 20W/50 engine oil for only £2.75 for 4.5 litres. It's available from Morrison's fuel outlets. Made by Tetrosyl Ltd, it probably is OK, although there are no specs on the container. That's probably because it's in 'own label' packaging. Thought it might be of interest.

I would not recommend using it in a good engine unless its an oil burner like mine - I use Wilco at a similar price it burns it now at 50 mpp - still no smoke!!

The cheaper the oil the more frequent the oil changes, which counterbalances the perceived economy. Compared to petrol costs oil is cheap and it has a great impact on the longevity of the engine. Stick with a reasonable oil such as Castrol GTX - not top of the range but more than adequate. Unless you have an oil burner.
