I was thinking the other week of how starved we are of any DVD/VIDEOS on these cars. I have a freind who has his own company which involves corporate videos, advertising etc. I have had a chat with him and we are looking at doing a 30 minute film of these cars. I was looking at covering the history of them, a buyers guide showing what to look for and of course some glory shots of them on the road. I will keep you updated.

Dear Glen, Perhaps a look at www.p5b.com and some reflection on lifely values will help the video/dvd team get a sense of the right values. It is emotion that got us all into this...and we're glad it did! Regards, Peter

Glen R Bedfordshire!
Neither can I anymore I discover this morning. However I see that you are a member of the P5B Forum (just joined). THere you will see that one of the subjects is "The video" with 71 views. This is the same video to which I referred. It must be there somewhere (although it was originally available about a year ago).
Sorry I cannot help more at the moment I'm in Paris on a work assignment.
Best of luck,
Peter

Peter, I have seen this before www.roverp5b.com and this is something that could easily be done and incorporated. I intend to keep it informative, with humour when required and some cracking shots of the car in use. I will keep you updated as these things take time to organize.

Hi Ray , the clip you saw was produced by Booster Demon Funk who set up another Forum which seems to hardly have any contributions anymore.I don't know if he is a member of this forum. Maybe they have all come over to this message board I am going to see my associate today to discuss the DVD I want to make. It will involve me working with a "Bevvy of top models and Beauties".......I do mean the cars. Can I throw it open to the forum to ask about any ideas, suggestions that they might have?

Glen
Sounds a great idea.
The club is considering creating DVDs (discussed at our last meeting in February) but these would be technically related, rather than general. The plan is to organise technical weekends for members ONLY, with a DVD of each to be made, again for club members.
I must emphasize at this stage it is only a plan, which will be discussed with the Regional Reps at a meting on May 20th. If any club members have any thoughts on the subject please contact your rep, or if you wish I can create a poll on this forum (under a separate subject as I don't want to hijack this thread) for feedback?

A pictorial shoot particularly if animated and filemd/edited professionally would I am sure convince many more owners to tackle jobs and a perhaps keep long term ownership for everyday use.
Most jobs on P5's are in essence very simple and require few tools - just confidence and a little help!

The technical DVD's sound an excellent idea and the points Phil make would be of great help. I spoke to my associate today and we discussed the format. This would contain a breif history of Rover, technical information, nothing too severe. What to look for when purchasing, ie rust points? Some rolling road shots (Top Gearish I know) Countryside/town shots. I am also looking for someone with a P5 saloon to feature but they must be relativley near me. He also has someone to do the narration. He apparently does voice overs on TV. It will be 20-30 minutes long and will cost £9.99. PS. My son arrived home from seeing a trailer for Garfield II at the cinema and proclaimed a Rover P5 was in the film. He is 10 yrs old but knows one when he sees one.

David /Glen,
You are both talking about the product. Who is the the customer (target group) and what is the objective?
You may both have valid points. Existing owners may need more technical information to help their cars (and the marque) survive ( and reduce ownership costs?). A very real problem however is to stop the P5 (B/Coupe) from dying out. It will if our average age does not reduce sharply!
It would help if the club, who presumably have more information than a few owners (incl me), could advise on priorities based on its own experience and research. If this seems beyond the club then this forum should do the same.
To my mind (less important than our collective opinion) we need to enthuse and motivate non-believers. The P5B.com video I mentioned earlier is an illustration of how humour and brand promotion will attract more attention, create more response and triumph over logic and lositical/technical expertise although both are important.
Get the P5B video on national television and you will create more future owners than this forum.

Point noted. As I have said before though I intend to inject some of my personality into it with humour too! I personally have gone of the idea of a profesional narration and want something more natural/gritty. Something like "A day in the life of a P5". Making a journey to see another owner for a chat and a bacon roll and a cup of tea. (two sugars) Maybe a trip to Solihull? Meeting people on the way?
