Have a look here Vince... www.burlen.co.uk/You'll probably find that the carb bodies are also worn and need re-bushing for the new shafts. Burlen can do this too.

Vince, I ordered a refurb kit plus the needles but there's not a huge difference in sending them to Birlen for them to do and buying the kit. I suggest you price up the options with Burlen before deciding, especially as the re-bushing needs some precision machining to do it properly.

Vince which carbs are they they? I have a pair of good bodies of the later type you can have for the cost of the postage or if they are the early type like mine try David Green I am sure he would sort you out a good pair

The problem with a second hand set is that will almost certainly be subject to the same wear that your own have suffered.
At least refurb your own yourself using the comprtehensive Burlen refurb kit or better still, as I wish I had done, have them refurb them for you.
Putting in another secondhand set means substituting one problem with a potentially bigger one.

Sorry I don't agree if you can inspect the bodies and check for wear there should be no problem I said I had a good pair less than 40k for free I would have binned them if they were no good I know Burlen do a good job but there are a lot of low mileage carbs without the expense and by all means refurbish gaskets etc but when it comes down to rebushing and new spindles I would go for good used bodies first If you have loads of money to spare there isn't a problem

I have used Gower and Lee. the did a first class job on my twin HIF6 for the p6. The website is www.gowerandlee.co.ukI found that the price and service were very reasonable, the are also able to supply parts to replace worn out items. There is great exploded diagrams on the website to. Colin

People who don't fully read the posts worse than those with plenty of money!

I did read your post "eastmidsrep" FULLY! the bodies which Vince could have had if they were the correct ones didn't need any work so would have been his easiest and cheapest option I believe your post implies you had bought a kit to do your own but on reflection you wish you had had them refurbished by Burlen implying that it was the best way for him to go hence my reply Not understanding what you have written worse than those with plenty of money! Good Luck with the carbs refurb Vince if you have any problems and the bodies are correct they will still be here all this friendly banter wont help you fix them
