I have just spoken to Graham Rigby humphrey and you are correct it is Passivated but only a very light gold so light it is hard to see and the fluid resevoir was Tin plated so that is being Nickled first then dull Zinc finished they are also Nickle plating the servo before the Zinc Passivated

The platers are correct very little, 'passivating' was done in the sixties except for specialist work (usually in the Aerospace industries). Which means that the Servos were just 'Cadmium' plated. Nowadays, with 'Cadmium' being banned, the finishes on steel products would be 'Zinc' plate and 'Passivate'.
