hi all what do i need to strip on the engine to change the main bearings and the big ends with out taking the engine out would it be easier to change the shells or put the range rover engine in

i have just looked on wadhams what size main and big ends set do i need

Same size as that already fitted - until you remove them you do not know whether the crank is still standard or has been reground. If the journals are scored a reground may be called for anyway. If they ALL look OK then have allok on the backs of the shells
The old shells will usually indicate the size eg Std, .010, .020 etc. If not then a micrometer will be needed - its best to get hold of one anyway as the amount of journal ovality can be checked as again a reground will be necessary and complete removal of the crank is the only option - many do not bother with this basic check but....
