Weird one this. I have taken the wooden fascia off and also removed the clock. I had it working fine but now, no power to the clock , in fact the clock won't now work even when I connect it to a positive feed I used a circuit tester that lights up when positive is found via a different source. Putting the clock aside all I can think of is the fuse but what one?? I have looked in the workshop manual/handbook but no luck. Any advice:?? PS. What bulb is required for the clock?

I have this once - the purple clock feed goes into a bunch of bullet connectors stuffed into the nearside A panel near the top - in fact mine were direct line of where the screen had once leaked and there was corrosion on the bullets - just trace back to this. Its no problem to run a new feed back the the fuse box anyway.
As to your clock - there is no internal fuse so if it will not work direct wired then it needs attention sometims its just dirty points that just need cleaning - otherwise its part of the clockworks. These cloacks internals and even the same external were used on numerous cars right from early seixties to mid eighties - I picked a good one up for 50P at a steam rally.
The bulb is also a standard BA7 - these again were common. Are you sure its not a bad earth?

I will check the earth although I feel that is not the problem and take on board you're recommendations. Thank you Phil for the bulb ref and advice. Update. The clock works fine but I will have to find the problem with the source that was working fine last week for some reason the feed is dead.

Having fun and games here. No horn now, no courtesy lights. It's something simple (i hope) but I can't find it

I would think all those items run through the same fuse.

Cheers Harvey, but would you know which one? It will save me popping them all out one by one, if I knew.

Its the Battery control - Purple wiring after fuse none which goes via ammeter in true Rover fashion

I once had a fault on the purple wire which blew that fuse. I had a short where Phil said - behind the fabric panel on the LHS of the passenger footwell. Check there first.

I will check it out. The fuse is fine but I still have no horn cigar lighter and courtesy lights. The clock wiring branches off into the main loom so I can't see where you actually mean

It comes out again in the bunch of cables in the A panel - as all these battery accessories are out of order its very likely this is where the problem lies. Just follow the loom along the parcel shelf and into A panel and you will find them
