I know that there have been other threads about this, but I haven't found what I need, so hopefully this could consolidate some of that information with new stuff.
My 1963 3-Litre Saloon (LHD) has no seat belts. I don't really care about the back, but want them in the front. I've read that Mk II cars have mountings, but I haven't found them, and don't want to tear out carpets and trim unless I'm pretty sure they're in there.
What I'd really appreciate is photographs of the original mounting points (with or without belts) seat belts on these cars so I'd know exactly where to look.
Beyond that, any direct advice on installation, even if it seems repetitious, or referral to pertinent threads would also be helpful.
Thanks, Gordon.

They are there - both front and rear - the B/c post ones are not entirely suitable for inertia reels on Coupes though. I will post some pics at week end?
Remove B/c post trim and rear carpets and you see blanked off holes!

Good to hear, Phil, thanks. I look forward to seeing pictures.
Any recommendations for brand or type? I have a set of P6 belts I'm hoping will work--I don't care what they look like as long as they work. That said, Wadhams sells some supposedly meant for this car, which might be worthwhile.

OK - different makes were used including inertia were available but the Mk2/3 fixing points were designed for 3 point static belts.
Period Britax or Kangol inertia will fit saloons but are bulky and reels can get in the way of seat recliner levers.
P6 type may well fit as they were universal

Phil,
I've looked, and I'm certain that my car doesn't have mounting points for seat belts. That said, I would appreciate it if you'd post those pictures you mentioned so I can at least see where the should be.
Thanks, Gordon.

The P5 with the red seats is a Mk2c Coupe - the other one a P5B saloon which is similar but not the same. The centre mounts are on the SIDE on the tunnel just befire it widens out for the diff Hope these are of some help

Thanks Phil,
I now know for certain that my car has no facility for seat belts, at least built-in. I'm going to check with some classic-car shops to find someone who can install them properly.
Gordon.

I don't know if you guys are familiar with, or use, the phrase "numbnuts," but it applies to me in this instance. After brooding about my seat-belt problem, I went out and dug deeper into the trim, and went under the car to look, and found that my car does indeed have vestigial mountings for seat belts, at least in the front. My old P6 belts will fit right in. Thanks again for the advice.

What make are the inertia in the red seat photo ? and are these ones that you mean that foul the recline lever ? Would P6 ones fit properly on my 69 P5B Coupe
I am thinking of changing because the statics drive me mad by keep falling off - I cant tighten anymore because I couldnt reach the Handbrake of take off coldstart. Thanks for any info. stoneRover

They are Brittax - common standard fit of the early-mid 1960's and after-market for all sorts of cars although most had static fitted as standard when became law in 1965
