hi all. the mechanism is not fully returning on the carbs(V8) were the roller is on the oval shape arm. The roller (Roller arm) is fully returning (ie to the stopper on the inlet manifold) but the oval shape arm which it slide in doesn't fully return (this means the engine is revving to high on tick over.) The accelerator cable and kick cable have been loosen and are not under tension. Should springs connected to each end of the carb mechanism?Their is a small hole on each carb mechanism should the springs fit their? They appear to attach to one of the inlet manifold bolts but i cant figure out which bolts. The springs in the position i have put them on the inlet manifold bolts and cabs seems to have the opposite effect.. ie hold the mechanism off instead of returning it.... any help would be grateful.....

There is also a spring on the kickdown linkage.
You should have a funny washer with a hole for the other end of a spring.
