Technical Day • Saturday 31st March 2007 ONLY 12 PLACES LEFT. At the Heritage Centre, Gaydon. The Technical Day is being offered to enable Club members to understand and be able to undertake as many maintenance tasks as possible. Obviously we would like to be able to cover as many subjects as possible. The workshop is available FREE to Rover P5 Club members. It will start at 10 a.m. and finish at 4 p.m (non members will be required to pay £35 per person). The cafe is open all day for food and drinks or you may prefer to take a packed lunch.

I'll be going up in Babs from Salisbury, probably leaving here about 7.30 am. Route is A303, A34, M40 etc.
Anyone else going fancy hooking up for a convoy?

Just returned from the technical day. Im sure i talk for everyone when i would like to say a big thank you to Graham for making the day a tremendous success. Most of us have learnt more today than years of reading through Rover literature. Whens the next one going to be arranged? Kind Regards,
Simon Hooker.

I'm glad it was a success and hope that you all realised that thesecars are really easy to work on and at least you may be able to tell if some garage is trying to rip you off

I think this was a very worthwhile and valuable day. Graham did a sterling job demystifying some of the mechanical aspects of these cars. We all seemed to gain a lot from today, and I'm sure most of us have more confidence to tackle jobs on our cars. It was also a good opportunity to meet other members.

Fantastic! Graham - you're a star - especially for doing the day single-handed! ;D I learnt a lot and even though a lot of the jobs demonstrated were above my skill level I still picked up a lot of valuable tips. Plus, it was great to meet other members in the flesh. I learned a lot just from all the informal chats. Taking Babs on a 250-mile round trip was fun too. No mishaps though I can now detect a couple of things that may need looking at.

A really good day and despite the fact that Graham had to do it all on his own, he made everyone feel welcome and was interested to help out with any of the problems which our P5s have.
It was comforting to me to find that other people's steering boxes leak and that many of the cars will only start in Neutral rather than Park when the engine's warm!
Good too, to meet other P5 enthusiasts; I also feel inspired to do more work on my car and to use it more!
Thanks, Graham, for a very worthwhile day.

A big thank you from me and Alan too!
We all learned something from the day and well done Graham for doing it alone. Nice to meet up with forum 'names', nice to have met Andy (Babs) and put faces to names. Pity the museum was closed for refurbishment.
A grand day out Grommitt!

Thanks for the encouraging feedback. Hopefully we will run more events like this, perhaps regionally as has been suggested. Glad you all enjoyed the day and felt it was worth while making the trip.

I think there is definitely room for two levels - perhaps one for restoration and one for more simple maintenance/basic fault-finding. I know some of the easy stuff is second nature to some members, but I for one am always interested in tips for keeping the old girl running smoothly.
