Mine's an early-ish P5B (1968) so maybe the position of my regulator was a carry-over from the 3 litre, and then they changed it sometime after mine was built (August '68).

I had an April 68 P5B and it was behind the instruments - Rover were never particular with consistency however

I can't find my multimeter now so it will have to wait. I notice in WM that the flasher unit was behind the instruments mine is on the fuse board below my possible stabiliser.
