Now then, the big question is tomorrows taste test. You see the lemon curd is in the fridge and in daily use on my wife's toast. I've washed the red rubber grease off so time will tell!..... Barry, if she notices a difference, just point out that Curd is an anagram of Crud, and they may have got the labels mixed up at the factory.

Calliper split yes. I am going to need to do the other side again soon as i did that one with calliper whole and just couldn't get either ring to fit then. Nb hartleys seedless jam lid may be even better! I did mine a few years ago without splitting the caliper because at that time i thought the calipers should not be split under any circumstances. I now know that they can be using new quad seals. One side took me ages and the other side a few minutes. It's a strange job which can go well or turn into a nightmare. As the brass rings are no longer available and have to be perfect to fit, I think I would simply use super glue in future because that would be just as effective.

Funny you should say that.
I was surprised to find one ring had popped back out overnight. I then tried to refit it with the calliper whole. I failed and badly deformed the ring in the process. So one side has standard ring and other side is now superglued!
For the time and pain I will probably only use glue in future!
The lemon curd fitting lid was also wrecked but fortunately we ran out before it was noticed!!
