I don't mind it all. How did you get the front end so low?

will have to investigate , not having a standard one near me to compare it to. the 15x7's have 195 60's on them at the mo, as you can see they don't fill the front arches .. but they must lower it by about two or three inches it causes me problems getting it up my drive.. it's running 215 70 p4000 on the rear and I've bought two more for the front so it wont be that low for long..

May I just say as one of those funny sods who prefers cars in their original condition even to the extent of trying to get a Girling Mk2 servo to work again, I was not in the slightest bit offended. (plebeian petrol heads! )

On the flip side Mark, dont be offended by people who ignore your car! Tolerance and respect works both ways and hopefully by having cars like yours out there on show it will gradually increase the acceptance by others. One day... when I eventually get the convertible on the road I have no idea how people will see it.. but nothing would offend me more than people saying 'its a shame he did that to the car'.. And believe me I've loved P5s since I first remember seeing one and subsequently buying it when I was 17! Each to their own.. (I actually have a crush on John Wallets car but 'Grease' made me want to create my own version of Greased lightning! lol)

I had walked the whole show ground and found two other rovers, I had a good look at them both nice cars that I would love to own.. remember I only fell into ownership of my hotrod p5 I have no personal preference, I love the classic look just as much ..
so I'm standing by my car as the two p5s drove by slowly and out the gate, I'm waiting to give the drivers the approving nod and to say nice car there mate through the open window... now my bright red p5 stands out just a little parked pride of place on the corner or a club stand full of eighties fords.. perhaps they just didn't see me so I'm giving them the benefit of the doubt.

I like to see standard cars and have deliberately tried to avoid a car that looks all new and plastic retaining as much of forty odd years of patina as possible. That said I admire the ingenuity of the modifiers and the workmanship some employ, I've also seen totally restored cars where you just have to marvel at the skill demonstrated on the cars. There is room for all tastes, that,s how it should be.

I have similar tastes to you Kev...what I do have difficulty with is precious or pedantic owners on both sides of the spectrum.

I remember going to a car show and looking under the bonnet of a car pointing out something or other to my grandson. The owner suddenly came flying over and shooed us a way because he didn't want people touching his car. My grandson is a keen wannabe car mechanic and I'm of a 'sensible' age so I thought he was getting all excited about nothing but we walked away. A while later a young girl in a short skirt was draping herself all over the wings of the same car with her boyfriend taking photos, the owner of the car was watching closely with a creepy grin on his face. I think at the time he was more concerned with the girls bodywork that his cars.

Another example! we were in Lanzarote a few years ago and the contestants cars for the next day Round the Island race were lined up for a display on the promenade,I went to look under the bonnet of one of them "I thought I was going to get mugged" as the owners "pushed" me away! Temperamental car owners aren't just the classic guys I had a similar experience to you Kev at Billing Jap show
