well i have just found out my fuel reserve dosnt work. Not used the car for about 3 weeks i thought i would give it a quick run into town and the get some four start for her. She started fine but a bit slow from sitting for so long. shot into town the poped over to get petrol. i new it was low so i pulled out the reserve whilst i was sitting waiting to get to the 4star pump. i pulled up on the pump and found it was out of order so had to wait for another pump. just about to pull up on the pump and the enging cut out. so i stuck £15 in and tryed to re start her but the battery was getting lower and lower!!!! Got her started in the end so now got the battery on charge and going to look for an electric fuel pump.
all fun i guess

If the reserve does not work it is nothing to do with the pump, assuming it is a mechanical one. The reserve supply is simply a longer pipe into the tank. If there is any rust in the tank this could cause a blockage or perhaps the reserve tap is not working properly. If a tank is kept full this will help to prevent corrosion, always keep above a quarter to avoid problems. An electric pump is best fitted in front of the reserve tap, so that the reserve can still be used, but running an electric pump dry can damage it,
